Congratulations to Helen Cunningham and her Ladies Intermediate Team who won their match against Ballinrobe on Saturday 22nd July. The team now go on to play in the Connacht Finals Weekend on either 2nd or 3rd September 2017 in Ballinrobe Golf Club.
The Club wishes Adam Challoner the very best of luck in The Oceanico World Kids Golf Championship to be held from 24th July to 28th July in the Amendoeira Golf Resort’s world class golf courses. Boys and girls aged 7 to 18 years will travel from all over the World to compete at this magnificent event for junior golf.
Our Seniors (Over 55) Team lost out to Oughterard Golf Club in the second leg of the GUI Connacht Final on Wednesday 19th July. The Oughterard Team took advantage of being at home in the second leg and won out on a scoreline of 6.5 to 3.5 overall.
Charlie Porter, Brendan Burke and all the team wish to thank all the fans who travelled to Oughterard on Wednesday last. After the match Chairman of the Connacht Branch of the GUI Jim McGovern presented the runners-up plaque to Brendan Burke vice Captain of the Team who in turn presented the plaque to Michael Conneally (Club Captain).
All team members and reserves were then presented with medals to mark coming 2nd in Connacht. All players are under age again in 2018, so we hope to see them go one step further next year.
The Ladies 18 holes stroke competition held on Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd July was for the Lilian Cheevers Cup. Winner: Maureen King 66 net, 2nd: Deirdre Donnellan 69, Gross: Chrissie Hogan, 3rd: Rose Devaney 69, 4th: Mary Hyland 70, Category 20-29: Bridie Jones 71, Cat: 30-36: Mary Dolan. The club wishes to thank the Cheevers Family for their generous sponsorship.

Men’s Club and Ladies Club presentation of prizes takes place on Sunday 30th July in the clubhouse at 9pm.
Members are reminded that the timesheet for our Men’s Captain’s weekend is now on display in the clubhouse. We all wish Michael Conneally the very best of luck on 5th and 6th of August for his prize which will be a 27 Holes Stroke Competition.
On Friday 21st July our Open Stableford competition was won by Darragh Nolan with 41pts. Gross winner was David Kitt who had a level par 36pts in torrential conditions. Everyone in Mountbellew wishes David and the Connacht Inter provincial squad the best of luck in Blarney this week.
